| 10:45 am | Group-based brainstorm on societal/business drivers
- Each individual should bring to the discussion a list of up to 5 drivers. The drivers must be of clear value to society/business in terms of return of investment.
- Each group to identify up to 8 national drivers. |

| 1:00 pm | Synthesis in plenary session (max of 10 drivers identified as a basis for the roadmap/discussions) |
| 2:00 pm | Group discussions (each group identifies 5 major technical obstacles to progress on the specified drivers) |

| 3:30 pm | Plenary session synthesis of the 10 most important technical obstacles |
| 4:30 pm | Group discussions on main research problems to be addressed to remove the specified technical obstacles. Each group is expected to identify up to 8 research problems and to specify a strategy to approach / address the identified problems. |
| 5:30 pm | Quick summary/wrap-up of the results of the 1st day |
